Respectfully Yours was commissioned by Fabian Bloch, and is scored for euphonium and piano.
The world premiere was given by Fabian Bloch (euphonium) & François Killian (piano) on the 6th of September 2015, and recorded on the CD ‘Drive’. Andy Scott had the privilege of collaborating on a number of occasions with composer/pianist Richard Rodney Bennett, and composed Respectfully Yours in memory of RRB, who passed away in December 2012.
The composer writes;
“I was delighted when Fabian approached me to commission a new work, and it felt appropriate to write a piece that was melodic with jazz-influenced harmony that I think of as a simple ‘thank you’ to Richard Rodney Bennett, for being an inspirational musician and kind and generous person. I know that Fabian is a virtuosic and sophisticated musician, and felt that a new work with this underlying sentiment would be in very capable hands.
