This arrangement of Mike Smith’s Bossa Scouser for saxophone quartet may also be played with optional pre-recorded rhythm section.
In the tradition of Bossa Nova, (Portuguese for new trend in the 1950s), this piece is a fusion of Samba and Jazz, using traditional Brazilian rhythms but with more complex jazz harmony.
There are opportunities for soprano and tenor solos which could be extended if required.
The various specially-created music minus one style backing tracks allow each player to practice individually with track, right up to a quartet rehearsing with the rhythm section backing.
