Bernedetto Persichini, mandolinist
Benedetto Persichini was an accomplished mandolinist. A newspaper from 1910 reported:

  • "The programme .. included two of the most noted soloists of the day -- Mr Olly Oakly (banjo) and Signor Persichini (mandoline), well-known to fame at the Hippodrome and Coliseum. Signor Persichini  almost astonished the audience with the brilliance of execution and wonderful variety of tone colouring of his playing and it was certainly a revelation of the resources of the mandoline." - Luton Times and Advertiser 11 March 1910

In his book, The Classical Mandolin (2005), Paul Sparks noted that:

  • "In 1909, Bernedetto Persichini came to the capital, creating a sensation with his extraordinary technique. He used special tunings to play six- and seven-note chords, and performed on an Embergher mandolin with a very narrow fingerboard" (page 95).
