Gemini consists of 12 advanced contemporary saxophone duets, designed to challenge and amuse the performer and audience alike.
These pieces have been recorded on an album of the same name, ‘Gemini’ with fellow saxophonist Andy Scott, who’s improvisations, along with my own, have been incorporated into this book. The recording is available on Ubuntu Music and also features Liam Noble on piano and Paul Clarvis on drums. If required, these tracks can be used as a reference to help learn the pieces inside.
I believe music should be challenging, exciting and fun all at the same time and for me personally, the harder the better. I originally wrote these as a challenge for myself and Andy, and to enjoy playing our saxophones together. Gemini is Latin for Twins, in this case referring to two equal parts, try to make the instruments sound as one when you play these pieces. As my former teacher, I chose Andy to play with me as I knew we could match our sounds very closely.
