Sequences by
ESMAE flute students: João Ferreira, Sofia Rego, Diana Mortágua, Catarina Santos, Mafalda Carvalho, Tiago Silva and Marisa Correia. Compiled and reviewed by Raquel Lima.
This book is a direct result of my experience as a professor at the Escola Superior de Música do Instituto Politécnico do Porto (ESMAE), Portugal. Each year I ask my students to compose a musical etude or 'sequence' exploring their personal technical difficulties. The most impressive of these 'sequences' I have formed into the following compilation.
The present edition, which includes 7 sequences, is taken from the academic year of 2009/2010. The pieces cover a wide range of techniques in flute playing: flexibility and quality of sound, legato, phrasing, expression, intervals, intonation, articulation, refering to all different registers of the instrument.
