Excerpts from Nemesis performed by Gerard McChrystal (sax) and Craig Ogden (guitar) from their album, PluckBlow
Nemesis was composed between 1996 and 1998 and is a three movement work that is written in a contemporary classical style with jazz and latin influences.
The original version, scored for soprano saxophone and vibraphone, has been performed worldwide and recorded by Rob Buckland & Simone Rebello on the album ‘Towards the Light’. In 2003 the composer arranged Nemesis for flute and vibraphone, and then in conjunction with Craig Ogden developed a guitar part for the piece.
Craig has recorded Nemesis with saxophonist Gerard McChrystal on the album ‘Pluckblow’ and with flautist Paul Edmund-Davies on ‘The Bad Tempered Flute’ album.
Special thanks to Craig and also to James Girling, both of whom gave their time and expertise to finalise the guitar part for publication.
