Written for saxophone virtuoso João Pedro Silva for his CD recording 'HOME - tenor saxophone music of Andy Scott', and given a world premiere by João in Lisbon, Portugal in April 2019.
HOME conveys a sense of feeling, one where we venture from our base and develop musical ideas, then at certain points we are drawn back to home. It is about a kind of love that families share, and which have developed through life. No phrasing, dynamics and direction are given in the written music, only tempi guidelines, leaving the music open to personal interpretation.
