Chasing Angels is a reflection on lucid dreaming in sleep. The awareness of dreaming, being able to 'edit' vivid dreams and yet not able to fall truly unconscious, is followed by frustration upon waking to feel an exhaustion surpassing that of the night before. With each night fatigue accumulates, making the end of the day a time of dread.
The idea behind the title is a psychological shift from a negative anxiety of 'chasing demons away' to 'chasing angels'. In other words, the hope that the positive will happen, rather than a fear that the negative will. This battle between thoughts appears in the contrast of consonant & dissonant melodies.
Loosely programmatic, the piece has three main sections: twilight approach, visions, and heavy dawn.
