A beautiful, lyrical piece for flute and piano with warm, heartfelt melody and gentle jazz-influenced harmonies.
Respectfully Yours by Andy Scott is a gentle and expressive work for flute and piano lasting around four minutes. Written in memory of the great British composer Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, it offers a warm and reflective musical tribute full of singing melody and tender, melting piano harmonies.
This flute version is dedicated to the distinguished British flautist Paul Edmund-Davies. Paul gave the world premiere at Oji Hall in Tokyo on 23rd March 2016. The piece continues a successful collaboration between Andy Scott and Paul that includes the popular album The Bad Tempered Flute.
It is currently set on the ABRSM Flute Grade 7 syllabus and is loved by flautists for its approachable yet rewarding character. It sits beautifully on the instrument and provides a lovely contrast in recitals and concerts. Many players choose it for its emotional depth without being overly difficult, making it suitable for advanced students and professional performers alike.
