Commissioned by Foden's Band and Armagh Old Boys' Silver Band to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Foden's association with the people of Armagh. Each February Foden's give performances and workshops in Armagh, organised by Ivor Stevenson.
The world premiere of Battle of Barossa was given at the Royal Northern College of Music Festival of Brass 2010, followed by a second performance in Armagh. Foden's Band were conducted by Garry Cutt, with narration by Ivor Stevenson.
Battle of Barrossa is recorded on the CD 'A World Within' (SP&S DOYCD276), Foden's Band conducted by Mike Fowles, with Ivor Stevenson narrating.
Battle of Barossa is scored for brass band and narrator and is one continuous movement. The piece tells the story of the famous Battle of Barossa in March 1811, with musical sections depicting events as they unravel.
