Jinga is an energetic and fun chart for sax ensemble and rhythm section that embraces the opportunity for sax ensemble to delve into the world of Latin American music and improvisation. The Samba feel is set up from the beginning with the gradual build-up of 2:3 and 3:2 claves using key slaps on the saxophones. The rhythm section joins in, providing a Latin groove that includes hits, unison lines, divisi sax sectional parts and improvisation. There's even a couple of lines that can catch sax players by surprise!
This piece can be played with or without the sopranino and bass saxophones and there are optional easier parts for a sax band with varying levels of experience and playing abilities.
