This piece was written for, and premiered by Gwilym Simcock & Rob Buckland at the Royal Northern College of Music (Concert Hall), Manchester on 28th November 2007. Rob & Gwilym recorded 'Whisper Goodbye' on the CD 'Sax of Gold', Andy Scott's SaxAssault.
A contemplative, dark and thoughtful work that gradually unravels, leading into an improvised section for piano. The words 'Whisper Goodbye' are taken from Gene Lees lyrics to the famous Bill Evans jazz standard 'Waltz for Debby', and refers to the feelings that a father has as his daughter grows up and develops her sense of independence.
