Suitable for a school / youth group, PDS4Zero is a ballad for Brass Group (4 Cornets in Bb, Tenor Horn, Baritone Horn, Euphonium, 2 Trombones, Bass in Eb, Percussion.)
PDS4Zero is a ballad, comprising two sections which in effect are a verse and chorus. The theme is initially stated in harmonically adventurous block writing, before the euphonium simply states the melody over a muted bell-effect colour. On both occasions the verse leads to a stirring chorus, which is followed by a brief coda in which the trombone and cornet share the main theme. Composed for the Sandbach School Brass Group during Andy's tenure as Composer-in-Residence at Sandbach School, and premiered on June 15th 2008.
