Each piece addresses one or two musical or technical aspects and has individual notes to aid learning. This book follows on from 6 Episodes.
1. The Web
2. Don’t go Gregory
3. C Five
4. Neapolitan Waltz
5. Have a Habanera
6. The Curse
Introduction:
This book is the next in the series after Six Episodes for Solo Mandolin. It contains 6 solo pieces for mandolin, each with a different challenge for the player. Some of the challenges are of a more musical nature: rubato, cadenzas, two part writing, unusual time signatures and lesser used keys; and some are of a technical nature: position playing (2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions), tremolo over chords, legato tremolo, cross stringing, pizzicato and harmonics. Each piece is both a stand alone solo piece of interest and appeal to players and audiences alike, and also a study piece aiming to take the player to a higher level. To make the most of this book use the fingerings and positions marked, even if it is possible to achieve them in other ways.
