The Mandolin Companion was originally created by Alison Stephens, a highly respected classical mandolinist and teacher. After her death in 2010, the book was completed by her former student, Chris Acquavella. Chris Acquavella is an American mandolinist now based in Germany and recognised as one of the leading players of his generation. Together they produced this 77-page A4 technique book, designed as both a progressive tutor and a long-term daily practice companion. The book is divided into 12 clearly organised chapters covering essential mandolin techniques.
Contents include:
• Daily warm-up routines
• Scale studies in all keys
• Tremolo development exercises
• Dexterity and finger independence studies
• Arpeggio patterns and chord work
• Targeted troubleshooting sections
The practical, dip-in dip-out format makes it ideal for students, teachers and performing musicians of all levels and styles – classical, folk, traditional and contemporary.
This book remains a trusted reference for mandolin players worldwide seeking a thorough and systematic approach to technique.
