Emma Rawicz’s first solo saxophone composition, Solitudinal, brings the spirit of live improvisation into a through-composed work that feels both freeing and expressive. This short piece captures the exposed yet liberating nature of playing alone, exploring space, tonality and motifs in a way that celebrates solitude rather than loneliness.
Commissioned by Andy Scott, Solitudinal received its world premiere from him on 11 July 2025 at FISP in Palmela, Portugal. The work is presented as a concise 3-page score for solo saxophone and is ideal for advanced players and those building contemporary solo repertoire. About Emma Rawicz
Emma Rawicz is a rising British saxophonist, composer and bandleader from North Devon. She studied jazz at the Royal Academy of Music and has quickly made a strong impression on the UK and international jazz scene. Her albums, including the independent debut Incantation and the ACT Music release Chroma, have drawn high praise, with critics noting her distinctive sound and creative approach.
She has received several awards and nominations, including recognition at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards and Jazz FM Awards, and continues to build an international profile through touring and new projects. A Standout Performance
