A fun performance piece which is perfect for either educational workshops or concert use, and can involve as much or as little "performance" as the players feel comfortable with. For example in educational workshops external performers can be added to the performance.
Suitable for Intermediate standard quartet.
Story behind the piece:
Henkies is a nickname given to Shetland Trows. They are small, grotesque people who limp (or henked) when they walked. Their music is captivating but their dancing, of which they are proud and practise daily, is a very odd jig. Every year the Henkies would hold a competition and the winner, (the worst jigger) would be crowned the Champion Henkie and would win the right to live under The Bridge and scare all the villagers, and the failed challengers would have to live in the hills until the following year.
